Sony Patenta Construction Technology used in Death Stranding

Death Stranding is a video clip game established by Kolyma Productions as well as edited by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The video game appeared on November 8, 2019, on PlayStation 4 and also July 14th 2020 on Windows. A Supervisor’s Cut variation came out on PlayStation 5 on September 24, 2021.

DEATH STRANDING - Part 22 - Reconstruct Road

When I was developing Death Stranding, Video Kolyma created a system to build routes and terrain. Although Kolyma could have patented this type of technology, it was actually Sony who decided to do it though clearly, giving it its respective credit to the Legendary Nixon Creative.

This patent was recorded by Sony in 2019, but was just approved the past December 7 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. According to the Japanese firm, it is a radar of land and gradual construction of a route in a virtual environment of a video game.

Specifically, with this they refer to that construction mechanics in Death Stranding, in which users have the possibility to edit this space in order to build other routes that other players can travel. In theory, this would mean that Sony could use this mechanics in other future projects, but at the time of writing, they have not said anything about it.

Editor’s note: It is a curious decision from Sony, however, for something they did things. That is, Sony had not registered this patent if they did not intend to use it in the future, although not necessarily for a death Stranding sequel.
