NBA Trade: La Clippers pick Powell and Covington from the Portland Trail Blazers
The Portland Trail Blazers brought Norman Powell and Robert Covington to the La Clippers. This reports Adrian Wojnarowski from espn. In return, three players including draft pick in the northwest change.
According to WoJ, the blazers from the Clippers get the Guards Eric Bledsoe and Keon Johnson and Forward Justice Winslow. In addition, the clippers drop a two-round pick in the 2025 season, which comes from the Detroit Piston.
For the Clippers (27-27), which in the West currently prove the eighth rank and thus a play-in-place, it is mainly a reinforcement on the wings, as Kawhi Leonard will no longer return this season and Paul George also fails with an elbow injury.
Portland (21-31) separates from Powell’s long-term contract: The Shooting Guard had signed a contract over five years before the season and a total of 90 million dollars. The Blazers are still on the last play in place, but these season are among the worse teams in the west. Through the trade, the Blazers also slip slightly in Punctto salary and have no luxury tax now.
Further trades to a rebuild without franchise superstar Damian Lillard does not seem impossible at least.
