BBL, basketball: FC Bayern wins at emotional return of Paul Zipser
The basketball gallery of FC Bayern Munich came with an emotional victory from the country break. The leader of the basketball Bundesliga won 86:75 (28:46) against Hamburg Towers.
Basketball international Paul Zipser celebrated his return after a long rehabilitation phase and was for the first time since his brain operation in June 2021 again on the parquet.
Zipser has been replaced for the last 15 seconds of the third quarter under Applause, but ultimately did not play any longer. “It’s a blessing that we see him back on the parquet,” Bayern Trainer Andrea Trinchieri said in the run-up to the game at “Magenta basketball”.
In the first half, the Munich had been dominated by the guests. Hamburg’s Caleb Homesley scored 25 points there, including 16 in the last three minutes before the break. So the Towers were left at 46:28. At the beginning of the second quarter, the Munich had experienced a shunting customer: Nick Weiler-Babb fell on the ground for a dark experiment, was unconscious and had to be tranbasketballed by the parquet.
Second Guard of FC Bayern turns on
Thanks to a 11-0 digit in the second half, the Munich found her rhythm and shook the fright.
The hosts shortened before the final section on 58:60 and turned the game through a 11-0 run in the fourth passage.
Especially the big guard around Munich’s Topscorer Augustine Rubit (16 points) turned on. In the end, the leaders had dominated the second half with 58:29.
Both teams set a sign of peace because of the Russian invasion into Ukraine and wore in warming up and on the bench T-shirts with the imprint “No more was”. In addition, the players presented a banner with the same inscription before the kick-up.
